Now what?

I just finished my last semester in the teacher librarian credential program, and I have learned a lot. However, I still don't feel qualified or like I am a more able school librarian. I still want to take more courses like Cataloging & Classification, Booktalking, and Reading Programs, but the CSU is hiking fees and frankly, I'm tired of the grind of being both a student and a full-time worker. I can't learn cataloging from a textbook, but I think I'll be okay in this career without it. I'll have to rely on webinars and trade journals like Teacher Librarian or School Library Journal and digital workshops and classes from CUE and the Krause Center to keep my skills updated. I am going back into the smaller classroom as an ELD English teacher this summer and an English teacher at the adult school this fall, and I've told people that both of these professions--school librarian and English educator--inform each other. For example, my English classroom this summer will be all about free, voluntary reading and me finding the right book for each of my readers. I imagine I'll also expand on the sustained silent reading that happens in my adult school class and will try to get kids to speak more to each other and to a larger public about books they're reading. No poster projects or crayons and scissors please! I would much rather read something online from my students.
